Social and economic development is hard and slow to achieve among subsistence farmers who are caught up in poverty. But OCA together with International Refugee Trust (IRT) is chipping these obstacles away through multi-sectoral approaches. 

Without proper storage, these farmers were forced to sell their surplus crops at a low price to middlemen, and potentially lose out on profit. With the new grain store, farmers can safely store their surplus produce and sell for much larger profits. The farmers not only intend to store their bulk produce in the store, but also add value to them to attract more market. Now that they are able to store their produce, the farmers will sell at the right time when the demand is high because they will be in a better position to negotiate prices.
